Meet the speakers:

Bjørn Kristian Sæstad, OEM Director / Chief Quality Officer, NAVTOR
As OEM Director, Bjørn holds overall responsibility for developing and managing NAVTOR’s strategic partnerships with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). He plays a key role in ensuring that NAVTOR’s technology and solutions are effectively integrated into ECDIS systems and other maritime software. Responsible for NAVTOR’s ECDIS Chart Kernel SDK (Software Development Kit), Bjørn ensure the product meets OEM partners’ requirements.
Since the start of NAVTOR Bjørn has been involved with S-100, through SDK development and participating in various S-100 working groups.

John Kåre Klippen, Data Hub Director, NAVTOR.
John has over 25 years of leadership experience in marine and maritime industries and has been taking part in the development of the S-100 standard, since its inception.
John joined NAVTOR in March 2025, transitioning from the Norwegian Hydrographic Service, where he served as Director & Head of Production. At NAVTOR, he will lead the DataHub unit, delivering high-quality and user-friendly data products, that support NAVTOR’s mission to deliver value to clients and users.

Thomas Mellor, Head of Technical Partnerships, UKHO
Tom Mellor is the Head of Technical Partnerships at the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), where he leads collaborations with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and other technical partners to advance the development of e-navigation products and IHO S-100 solutions for Electronic Chart and Information Display Systems (ECDIS). He also chairs the International Hydrographic Offices (IHO) ENC working group and S-100 Security Scheme project team. His various roles place him at the forefront of next-generation navigation technologies, focusing on implementing new standards to enhance safety, efficiency, and optimisation in maritime operations.
