We are looking for a technical support engineer with a special focus on network troubleshooting skills for Windows client operating systems. The recruit will also be expected to be a good spokesperson for the NAVTOR service and product portfolio. The position is in Yokohama and reports to the Regional Manager of NAVTOR Japan.
Manage technical inquiries for the local market daily in cooperation with the support team in Norway and other locations
Support service installation process by telephone and email (helpdesk system), and sometimes required to travel to the place of installation, such as shipyards, ports and so on
Explain NAVTOR’s service portfolio to customers from technical perspective with Sales Managers. Provide technical trainings for business partners
Good knowledge about Windows client operating systems
Good general network (TCP/IP) troubleshooting skills
Proficiency with network tools like ping, ipconfig, tracert, netstat, telnet/putty
Knowledge about network protocols, services and terminology (DHCP, DNS, NAT, TCP/UDP, default gateway, POP3, SMTP, IMAP, HTTP)
Fluency in English and Japanese languages
Personal skills and backgroundsWe welcome candidates with the following profile:
Independent person that takes initiative, but also works well with a team to solve problems
Work experience in shipping or related industries. Knowledge of network infrastructure of commercial vessels is preferred, but not mandatory
Study experience in engineering at university, maritime college or equivalent
