Investment to Accelerate Organic Growth Strategies and Catalyze Transformative M&A Expansion
NAVTOR, the leading provider in navigational software for the maritime industry, today announced that it has received a majority growth investment from Accel-KKR, a leading global software-focused investment firm headquartered in Silicon Valley.
The investment also marks Accel-KKR’s 42nd completed investment in the EMEA region since 2013 when it established a European headquarters, making Accel-KKR one of the most active software private equity firms in Europe and specifically, Scandinavia. It also marks Accel-KKR's 15th completed investment globally since the second half of March 2020.
NAVTOR has joined forces with Weathernews Inc. (WNI), the world’s largest private weather service company, to integrate Optimum Ship Routing (OSR) and advanced weather services into digital chart table NavStation. The move streamlines and simplifies tasks for navigators, while creating time and cost savings for shipping businesses, combining all planning and routing processes on a single, cyber secure platform.
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is a rapidly changing and fluid situation from a public health perspective and as such is having a major influence around the world. The effect to our global maritime industry has the potential to be widespread and of concern to all.

“We’re just about to hit a very significant milestone,” remarks company CCO Børge Hetland, “with almost 6000 vessels now subscribing to NAVTOR’s innovative e-Navigation solutions. It’s been an exciting journey,” he adds, “and the Havila Clipper marked the first step on the way.”
