Emission Control Areas (ECAs) are sea areas in which vessels must comply with rules defined by the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution form ships (MARPOL) Annex VI (Regulations for the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships), specifically under regulation 14, which covers emissions of Sulphur Oxides (SOx) and particulate matter from ships.
In the recently released NavTracker 7.7. version the previous Notes-function was redesigned and changed to the new Data Layers Panel, which allows users to add layers with information regarding their own vessels, as well as layers for all vessel within the company fleet.
To help improve situational awareness, NavTracker-users can now view ECA zones as an overlay on their map. Current ECA zones that are available are:
Baltic Sea Area
Bohai Rim Area
North American area, East Coast,
North American Area, Hawaiian Islands,
North American Area, West Coast
North Sea Area (including the English Channel)
Pearl River Delta
United States Caribbean Sea Area
Yangtze River Delta
To activate ECA as a Data Layer, simply click on Settings in the top menu bar in the upper left corner and the corresponding checkbox called Data Layers Panel. The Data Layers Panel will appear in the upper right section of your screen, where you can expand the ECA layer to choose one or multiple ECA zones as overlays on your map.
